Telum Therapeutics raises €18 million to advance the clinical development of its antimicrobial programme

Telum Therapeutics

Pamplona-based biotechnology company Telum Therapeutics has closed an €18 million funding round led by AMR Action Fund, the world’s largest venture capital fund dedicated exclusively to investing in urgent-need antimicrobial therapies. The transaction highlights the growing appeal of Navarra’s innovation ecosystem to international investors specialising in life sciences.

The round also saw the participation of new investor Inveready alongside the company’s existing partners: Invivo Partners, CDTI through SICC Innvierte, Clave Capital and Sodena.

An innovative platform to combat antimicrobial resistance

The funds raised will enable Telum to complete the Phase 1 clinical development of its lead candidate, targeting the treatment of hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia caused by Acinetobacter baumannii — one of the most dangerous multi-drug-resistant pathogens in modern medicine.

Through its proprietary APEX® platform, Telum develops biologically-derived, protein-based antimicrobial therapies designed to overcome the limitations of existing antibiotics and expand treatment options for patients with life-threatening infections.

AMR Action Fund’s involvement represents not only a significant financial contribution for the Navarra-based company, but also the endorsement of a leading international investor in the antimicrobial resistance space — a validation that reinforces the scientific quality of its platform and its positioning within the global antimicrobial innovation ecosystem.

Navarra, a benchmark in biotechnology and healthcare innovation

This transaction reflects the strength of Navarra’s biotechnology ecosystem and its capacity to attract specialist international capital. The combination of international investors, technology-focused funds and public institutions committed to healthcare innovation — such as Sodena and CDTI — illustrates the public-private collaboration model that characterises the life sciences sector in Navarra.

Founded with the vision of developing a new generation of therapies capable of combating the world’s most dangerous drug-resistant pathogens, Telum Therapeutics is consolidating its position as one of Navarra’s most internationally promising biotechnology companies.
