Navarra Showcases the Strength of Its R&D&I Ecosystem to IMEC, a Global Leader in Nanoelectronics and Digital Technologies

IMEC

Navarra has welcomed a delegation from IMEC, one of the world’s most prestigious research and innovation centres in the field of nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Over the course of a two-day visit, its representatives had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the region’s scientific, technological and industrial capabilities, reinforcing Navarra’s international profile as a leading location for innovation and technological development.

Organised by the Government of Navarra in collaboration with Sodena and ADItech, the programme showcased some of the key assets that make up Navarra’s R&D&I ecosystem, which is characterised by close collaboration between universities, technology centres, businesses and public institutions.

A Connected Ecosystem Driving Innovation

During their visit, the IMEC delegation met with representatives from academic institutions, research organisations and innovative companies to explore potential areas of collaboration and gain a deeper understanding of Navarra’s innovation model.

The programme included visits to key players such as the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), NAITEC, the IRIS Digital Innovation Hub and several companies developing advanced solutions in strategic fields linked to technological and industrial transformation.

These meetings provided an opportunity to highlight Navarra’s strengths in knowledge transfer, digitalisation, applied research and public-private collaboration, all of which have contributed to the development of a highly connected and competitive innovation ecosystem.

Building International Connections in Strategic Technologies

The visit is particularly significant given IMEC’s position as a global leader in semiconductor research, nanoelectronics and advanced digital technologies. Headquartered in Belgium, the organisation collaborates with some of the world’s leading technology companies and research institutions.

For Navarra, strengthening ties with internationally recognised organisations such as imec represents an opportunity to expand collaboration in strategic areas including advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, industrial digitalisation, semiconductors and emerging technologies.

Such exchanges also help raise Navarra’s international visibility and reinforce its position as an attractive destination for innovation, research and technology transfer projects.

Navarra: A Region Ready for Innovation

IMEC’s visit highlights the growing international interest in Navarra’s innovation ecosystem. Thanks to a strong network of research and knowledge organisations, advanced technological infrastructure, innovative companies and public policies that actively support R&D&I, Navarra continues to strengthen its position as a region capable of generating high-value innovation and attracting new opportunities for collaboration and investment.

The ability of the different actors within the ecosystem to work together effectively, combined with a clear commitment to smart specialisation and applied innovation, places Navarra in a strong position to address future technological challenges and further enhance its presence within Europe’s and the world’s leading innovation networks.
