The grants are aimed at both new companies (created from January 2023 onwards) and young companies (created between August 2019 and December 2022). The former may receive up to 75 % of the eligible costs, while the latter will get up to 55 %, with a possible increase of 5 % if 40 % of their workforce are women. The costs covered include personnel, training, fairs, prototypes, consultancy, among others. The grant will in no case exceed EUR 50,000 per applicant.
In addition to meeting the aforementioned requirements, companies must fall into the category of innovative technology-based companies, i.e. they must have received certification of the innovative and scalable entrepreneurship of the business model. Also included in this category are those that are capable of generating technology, those that base their activity on scientific and technological knowledge or on the work of highly qualified scientific, research and technological personnel.
This category also includes companies whose business activity enables the development of new products, services or processes based on the knowledge arising from research activity. Likewise, those whose business lines are based on the development of intensive use of technologies; or whose activity consists of the exploitation of their own technologies or those developed for this purpose by, among others, universities.
Interested organisations should be aware that on 2 September the conditions of the call for applications will be published in the Official Gazette of Navarre (BON), so the application period will begin the following day and will end on 11 September (inclusive). However, those who wish to consult information on the grants can already do so via the web page of the call for applications and begin to prepare the documentation to be submitted.
As reflected in our ‘Strategic Sectors’ section, the ICT sector in Navarre is made up of around 200 companies that employ 3,500 people and have a turnover of around 280 million euros, with a constant search for innovation. Its activities include the automation of production processes, followed by cybersecurity and the management of infrastructures and systems.
Despite being a relatively young sector, as the vast majority of the companies that make it up have been set up in the last 20 years, it has experienced significant growth due to the sophisticated demand from local and multinational companies in the renewable energy, health, food, automotive and public sectors in our region. The ICT sector has been of vital importance in the development of Smart Grids for renewable energy and in sensor networks for applications in the Agro or E-health sector.
