The Landaben plant aims to beat its all-time production record, set in 2011, and to reach 6,000 employees in early 2027, now that its first two fully electric models are in production.
Heading for its best year ever
Volkswagen Navarra is maintaining its forecast of around 360,000 vehicles in 2027. That would surpass its previous record of 353,353 units in 2011, although management notes that final output will depend on market conditions. The plant expects to close this year with around 265,000 cars, up from 225,225 in 2025. It currently builds 1,438 vehicles a day, one every 54.6 seconds.
This growth is driven by two electric models that join the Taigo and T-Cross on the production line. The first is the Skoda Epiq, launched in June: it is the first Skoda ever built in Spain and has already received 60,000 orders across Europe. The second is the Volkswagen ID. Cross, which entered production a month ago. To meet demand, the plant will add an extra Saturday morning shift.
More jobs and investment
The workforce, which stood at around 4,800 at the end of 2025, is set to reach some 5,600 by the end of this year and 6,000 in early 2027. The plant has also invested more than €50 million in extending its body shop and €55 million in a new press. In addition, it is redesigning its internal rail layout, which is due to come into service in about a year.
An export engine for Navarra
Landaben exports around 90% of its output, with Germany, Turkey, Italy, Spain and France as its main markets. It works with some 600 suppliers in 29 countries. The fifth-largest plant in the Volkswagen Group by volume in 2025, it expects to rank fourth in 2026 and third in 2027.
