The Navarre-based group Uvesa, headquartered in Tudela and part of the international agri-food group MHP, has signed an agreement to acquire the poultry company Payán Hermanos, located in Maracena (Granada).

The transaction, currently subject to the relevant regulatory approvals, marks a new step in the group’s growth strategy, focused on consolidating its presence in the domestic market and strengthening its business model.

Through this acquisition, Uvesa aims to increase its production capacity, enhance its competitive positioning and generate new value opportunities by integrating Payán Hermanos into its operational, commercial and management structure.

Founded over 50 years ago, Payán Hermanos is a family-owned company with a strong track record in the poultry sector, specialising in the processing and marketing of meat products. Its integration will enable Uvesa to expand its territorial footprint, particularly in Andalusia, and further optimise its production chain.

Uvesa’s Chairman, Antonio Sánchez, highlighted that this transaction represents “a natural step” in the group’s evolution following its integration into MHP, in line with the objective of strengthening its subsidiaries and supporting their long-term development.

The company also notes that this move will contribute to strengthening its impact on local economies and to enhancing food security, in a context of growing demand for efficiency and sustainability in the agri-food sector.

This transaction consolidates Uvesa as one of the leading players in Spain’s poultry sector and reinforces Navarra’s position as a territory with leading agri-food companies, capable of growing, innovating and competing at both national and international level.
