The delegation will be dedicated to the design and implementation of electrical, communication and control systems for its wind platforms. To this end, it will house an electrical department, comprising five electrical engineers led by Adrián Oliva, Electrical & SCADA Manager, together with an industrial engineer from the operations area. Its managers justified the choice of Navarra ‘because it is a strategic national location with extensive experience in wind energy, where more than 50 wind farms, mostly onshore, are already in operation’.

With the support of Sodena, a public company under the Government of Navarre dedicated to attracting investment, XI Wind intends, from its new headquarters in Tafalla, to work closely with public and private entities in the region to develop floating wind energy projects. In this regard, its delegate in the region, Adrián Oliva, stressed that the opening of the centre reinforces its commitment ‘to technological innovation and allows it to take advantage of local talent as well as collaborate with companies in the region’.

Alex Raventos, CEO of X1 Wind, said that its landing in Navarra represents ‘a significant step forward for floating wind energy in Spain’. ‘This centre will take advantage of the region’s wind energy expertise, as well as fostering the creation of high-quality jobs,’ he added. Raventos expressed his enthusiasm for the support received from both the Government of Navarre and Sodena, confident that this alliance ‘will strengthen technological innovation and the energy transition’.

The X1 Wind team from Navarre is currently expanding its collaboration network with local companies to carry out tests, equip the floating wind platform and manufacture customised electrical cabinets. In this context, Iñaki Larraya, managing director of Sodena, stressed that the arrival of X1 Wind in Navarre ‘is very good news insofar as it strengthens the renewable energy industrial sector, an area that Sodena has historically supported and continues to promote’, he concluded.
