To date, the R&D&I decision center of Siemens Gamesa’s maritime business was located in the Danish city of Brande. The move is a consequence of the strategic plan of Siemens Energy, owners of Siemens Gamesa, which aims to simplify the technology development structure.
Siemens Gamesa has decided to locate in Navarra the unified technology management of both the onshore and offshore businesses. This is the multinational’s commitment to research and development activities in Spain.
Months after announcing its decision to group the technology centers, the multinational has just announced that the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Morten Pilgaard Rasmussen from Denmark, who until now was responsible for technology in the offshore business, will be based at the facilities of Ciudad de la Innovación (Innovation City in Sarriguren, Navarra). The new Siemens Gamesa executive will be responsible for integrating the company’s onshore and offshore teams as of January 1. He will also join the Management Committee and report directly to CEO Jochen Eickholt.
“Morten brings a global view of both our offshore and onshore businesses. This, coupled with a long experience in R&D and team leadership in complex and international contexts, makes him the best candidate to successfully implement the harmonization and standardization of our technologies, bringing stability to the development process and quality to our products,” the company said.
To date, the R&D&I center of Siemens Gamesa’s maritime business was located in the Danish city of Brande. The measure is a consequence of the strategic plan of Siemens Energy, owners of Siemens Gamesa, which aims to simplify the technological development structure, currently made up of several teams from the stage prior to the merger of Siemens and Gamesa.
