The works for ‘Mina Muga’ project, the future potash mine to be located in Navarre and Aragon, promoted by Geoalcali, have already started. A key milestone in this business initiative, which is expected to generate billions of euros in economic terms and hundreds of jobs for decades.

The project, which will cover an area of 200 hectares, will install a potash treatment plant in the Navarre municipality of Sangüesa and has already started the construction of the mine shaft and two ramps in the Aragonese municipality of Undués de Lerda. In Navarra, the company continues “working closely” with the City Council of Sangüesa and the Regional Government to complete the building permit process for the construction of the plant.

It is expected that as the construction work progresses, especially in the Navarre area, up to 1,000 jobs could be generated, mainly through subcontractors and suppliers. The firm Geoalcali has encouraged local suppliers to join the project, register on its website and participate in the tenders.

Mina Muga’ is expected to finish the construction of the facilities and start producing potash “in 2024 or early 2025”. Geoalcali has invested 80 million euros in the development of this project, and with the construction works and start-up, it will exceed 600 million euros until it reaches the full production phase.
