Both entities addressed the situation of the upcoming construction of a green hydrogen production plant (Valle H2V Navarra) in Sangüesa, which will involve an investment of 87 million euros. The initiative, declared of Foral Interest by the Government of Navarra, is awaiting the necessary environmental authorisations (Integrated Environmental Authorisation and Environmental Impact Assessment). It is also awaiting confirmation of the connection point to the water network and the building permit, both of which depend on the town council of Sangüesa.

On the other hand, the regional authorities and the company agreed that the development of the centre will contribute to achieving the objective of decarbonisation, an objective that is currently a priority for the Government of Navarra.

In this sense, both parties valued the fact that the region has its own Green Hydrogen Agenda, whose aims include advancing towards an energy, industrial, technological and talent ecosystem around this clean energy. In their opinion, this represents “an opportunity to ensure sustainable economic and energy development for the region in the coming years.

The meeting was attended by the President of Navarre, María Chivite, accompanied by the Regional Ministers of Territorial Cohesion, Óscar Chivite; Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, Mikel Irujo; and Rural Development and the Environment, José María Aierdi.

The Acciona Energy delegation was headed by its CEO, Rafael Mateo; the CEO of its subsidiary AccionaPlug, Alan Ripa; and the latter’s commercial and development director, Roberto Asín.
