The new facilities will be operational by the end of 2025 and will host partial, type and combined tests for the renewables and electrification industry. Specifically, the systems to be tested will be mainly aimed at the wind and photovoltaic sectors, electric car chargers, green hydrogen and battery energy storage, in line with the Sustainable Strategy for Smart Specialisation (S4) promoted and developed by the Autonomous Community of Navarre.
Ingeteam continues to invest in R&D and to strengthen a business project that currently employs almost 2,900 people. From now on, the laboratory will be located next to the company’s current offices in the Pamplona region. A delegation that will be enlarged by 12,000 square metres of floor space and which will be equipped with a new office space prepared to accommodate 250 new employees.
Once it is operational, this unit will be added to the eight laboratories that the group has in the Basque Country and Navarre. In the Basque Country, in particular, it tests its new developments in the field of rotating electrical machines and power and control electronics.
At the beginning of 2022, the company announced a new strategic plan that entailed a total investment of 210 million euros for its R&D activities and new infrastructures, including this laboratory. In fact, Ingeteam invests around 5% of its annual turnover in R&D and employs more than 500 people dedicated to research and development. ‘Having a facility of these characteristics will place the company in an unbeatable position to continue to carry out its purpose of electrifying a sustainable future,’ indicated its managers.
