For his part, the CEO of SungEel, Kang-myung Yi, expressed his pride in being part of Navarra’s industrial ecosystem, while highlighting the collaboration between South Korean and Navarrese industries as a profitable opportunity. Yi stressed that this project will expand SungEel’s capacity in Europe in the key battery recycling sector and thanked the Government of Navarra for its support.
Along the same lines, Agustín Idareta, COO and co-founder of BeePlanet, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainability and the recycling of electric vehicle batteries. He pointed out that the Caparroso plant is an important step towards consolidating new forms of mobility and thanked the Government of Navarre through Sodena for its support in this strategic project.
The plant in question will have the capacity to process batteries for up to 25,000 cars per year, which will enable it to fully recover essential materials such as lithium and cobalt. Declared an investment of foral interest, this factory will also contribute to the circular economy and will position Navarre as a European benchmark in the ecological transition.
