The Government of Navarre has carried out an institutional mission to China with the aim of exploring new strategic alliances in the field of renewable energy and strengthening cooperation with one of the most dynamic technology markets in the world. During the visit, President María Chivite held high-level meetings with representatives of China Energy – CEEC, one of the leading global conglomerates in the energy, electricity and infrastructure sectors.
Navarre seeks to consolidate its position as an international hub for clean energy, combining its industrial expertise and longstanding leadership in renewables with new opportunities for technological and business collaboration. This approach aims to open avenues for cooperation in innovation, advanced manufacturing and large-scale energy transition projects.
The region’s commitment to reinforcing its presence in strategic markets such as China contributes to attracting foreign direct investment, diversifying alliances and positioning Navarre as a competitive destination for the development of sustainable energy solutions.
Navarre’s renewable energy ecosystem
Navarre is a pioneer and a European benchmark in the production of renewable energy, thanks to a long-standing technological and industrial commitment that has helped drive the development of global standards in wind energy.
The renewable energy sector is the third most important industry in the region, after automotive and agri-food, and is supported by a solid industrial network of more than 110 companies. Together, these companies account for 10% of industrial employment and generate a turnover of €4.5 billion, equivalent to 5% of regional GDP. It is also Navarre’s second-largest exporting sector, particularly in the manufacture of wind turbines and key components.
Navarre’s industrial ecosystem spans the entire value chain, including a major renewable energy operator —Acciona Energía— and two international OEMs: Siemens Gamesa and Nordex-Acciona Windpower. Alongside these, a group of highly specialised SMEs provides added value in components such as blades, control systems, bearings and gearboxes.
