Navarra and China strengthen ties to build a future based on knowledge and added value

Delegations from both territories recently held a meeting in Pamplona, where they discussed future synergies in key economic and business areas such as the transition of the automotive industry towards electrification and electric vehicles, healthcare, and the promotion of renewable energy production. During the meeting, the President of Navarra, María Chivite, emphasized that the region “builds its future collaboratively, with the work and support of all its inhabitants, which represents an evident point of connection between the people of Navarra and China.”

The Asian delegation included both institutional and business representatives. Notably, the attendees included the Minister Counsellor for Political Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, Tian Geng, alongside the First Secretary for Trade, Jiao Yixian.

Other participants were KaiYu Yang, General Manager of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Europe) S.A., Spain Branch; YingHui Zhang, General Manager of Air China Limited, Spain Branch; Lin Xie, Deputy General Manager of China Construction Bank (Europe) S.A., Spain Branch; JianHua Li, Deputy General Manager of ZTE España S.L.U.; Luz Ma, CEO of Chint Energy S.L.U.; YiJian Chen, Deputy Executive Director of GPRO Spain Development S.L.; LiBo Zhai, Chief Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Representative Office; and JunHua Shen, CFO of Omoda Motors Spain S.L.

On behalf of Navarra, President Chivite was accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Finance, José Luis Arasti; the Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, Mikel Irujo; and the Minister of University, Innovation, and Digital Transformation, Juan Luis García.

Also in attendance were the Director General for Business Development, Iñigo Arruti; the Director of International Projection for the Government of Navarra, Miren Ausín; the Director of Invest in Navarra-Sodena, Guillermo Alonso; the President of the Navarra Chamber of Commerce, Javier Taberna; the Project Manager of the Navarra Business Confederation (CEN), Marta García-Drake; and the representative of the Chinese Business Association in Navarra, Aiwei Huang. Additionally, there was a broad representation of different clusters from the region, including Roberto Lanaspa (ACAN), Aitor Erquicia (ENERCLUSTER), Cristina García (ATANA), and Laura Corcuera (Navarra Health Cluster).
