The regional government has approved a multi-year aid package for its nine centres belonging to the Navarre R&D&I System (SINAI) through a call for proposals aimed at improving indicators of excellence, transfer and talent through training programmes to be implemented between 2025 and 2026. In this way, Navarre is strengthening and consolidating its scientific and technological ecosystem with the aim of better serving the research, development and innovation needs of its business fabric, as well as increasing its levels of efficiency and competitiveness with respect to its most direct competitors.

The grants will subsidise activities such as improving the centre’s technological capabilities and competitive positioning; identifying emerging scientific advances; participating in national and European R&D projects; hiring or training research staff; and participating in forums, technology platforms or associations. They also cover expenses related to technical and auxiliary personnel, equipment depreciation, patents, the acquisition of research equipment, and software licences, provided that they are included in an Action Plan.

Specific beneficiaries include the Foundation for Applied Medical Research (CIMA University of Navarra), which will receive €2.85 million; CENER, with €1.64 million; the Miguel Servet-Navarrabiomed Foundation, with €835,000; CNTA, with €663,000; NAITEC, with €611,000; the Navarre Industry Association (AIN), with €606,000; the CSIC Institute of Agrobiotechnology (IdAB-CSIC), with €341,000; Lurederra, with €332,000; and INTIA, with €176,000.

This call for proposals is part of a broader policy of the Navarre Science, Technology and Innovation Plan 2021–2025, which promotes a mixed (fixed-variable) funding scheme linked to results and agreed upon with SINAI agents.

The “Evoluciona” call therefore reaffirms the Government of Navarre’s strong commitment to innovation and the development of the regional scientific and technological fabric. By channelling multi-year grants to SINAI centres, their capacity to generate talent, promote knowledge transfer to the productive sector and improve their excellence is reinforced. This action consolidates Navarre’s strategic role as an advanced R&D&I ecosystem, with a clear vision towards global competitiveness and sustainable technological transformation.
