Executives from Canada, the United States, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Asia from this company specialising in thermal and acoustic insulation solutions based on stone wool visited the plant the company operates in the municipality of Caparroso. There, they learned first-hand about the technological advancements and the sustainable management model of the factory, which is considered a benchmark in sustainability for the group. The visit allowed them to share methodologies, strategies, and lessons learned with a clear focus: to promote a shared culture around sustainability and operational excellence, as is already the case in their branch in the Chartered Community of Navarre.
The choice of Caparroso as the venue for this international meeting reinforces Navarre’s role as an innovative industrial hub and a key player in the new European green economy. Since 2001, the plant has played a vital role not only in supplying the national market but also in exporting to countries such as France and Portugal.
With an annual production capacity of 110,000 tonnes of stone wool and 250 direct jobs, the plant stands as a model of how industry can be sustainable without sacrificing competitiveness. This has been demonstrated in recent years through the implementation of an ambitious decarbonisation plan that includes measures such as the energy refurbishment of its offices (which has reduced consumption by 70%), a heat recovery system from the furnace that generates 450 MWh annually and significantly reduces industrial water consumption, and the development of the group’s first photovoltaic solar park, which already provides 15% of the factory’s electricity consumption.
In addition to its environmental commitment, the company is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including targets for gender equality, business ethics, and sustainability training.
