The Building & Architecture Institute (BAI) will be located in Pamplona, in the former headquarters of Transportes Iruña next to the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), and its start-up will require an investment of 7.5 million euros. The institution will also have the backing of both the Spanish and Navarrese governments through a public foundation.

The National Centre for the Industrialisation of Construction will begin its work this autumn in Navarra. The facility, which will be called ‘Building & Architecture Institute’ (BAI), will be located in Pamplona). It will require an investment of 7.5 million euros. Of this, 2 million will be provided by the General State Budget; another 1.6 million will come from the Programme to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP), with Next Generation funds; and the remaining 3.9 million will be provided by the Government of Navarra.

The facility, promoted by the Spanish and Navarrese governments through a public foundation, will also fulfil a dual purpose. On the one hand, it will accelerate the industrialisation process of an economic activity which, in the region alone, involves 2,200 companies, employs 17,616 people and had an aggregate turnover of 4,370 million euros in 2021.

Likewise, the BAI aims to make Navarra a local, national and international benchmark in the development of Industry 4.0 in building, which will generate qualified employment and an industrial fabric with the capacity to implement the principles of the circular economy in its daily work.

In this sense, the aims of this project include “placing Spain at the forefront of the most advanced countries in industrialised construction” and “promoting change and digitalisation in the sector”. Also, “to promote training and research in robotics, the inclusion of women, the reduction of costs and deadlines, as well as the promotion of a sustainable construction model in projects and materials”. To this end, its activity will revolve around three main areas (research, training and projects) with the ultimate aim of developing its own ecosystem that generates a market and, in turn, trains professionals and companies.
