A total of 136 industrial multinationals from 25 different countries are established in Navarra

Automotive

The automotive and agribusiness sectors account for the majority of foreign-owned industrial companies present in Navarre Specifically, there are 55 companies, 31 of which belong to the automotive sector and another 24 to the agri-food sector. These figures are provided by Sodena, a public company dependent on the Government of Navarre, and reflect the efforts made by this entity and, specifically, its Invest in Navarre department to promote the attraction and establishment of foreign companies in the region.

The German-owned car manufacturer Volkswagen, located in Pamplona, leads the automotive sector in Navarre, followed by companies such as Dana and TI Automotive from the United States (both in Pamplona); GKN from the United Kingdom (in Carcastillo); Hidro Rubber and Ibérica de Suspensiones, from Italy (in Lesaka and Alsasua, respectively); SAS, Saint Gobain and Forvia Forvia, from Navarre (in Alsasua and Lesaka, respectively). SAS, Saint Gobain and Forvia from France (located in Arazuri, Berrioplano and Orkoien); Faurecia Tecnoconfort, Knorr Bremsen, Isringhausen and ZF TRW from Germany (all in Pamplona); Arkal from Israel (in Orkoien); Mobis Spain from South Korea (in Noáin); Mitsubishi Logisnext from Japan (in Noáin) and SKF from Sweden (in Tudela), among others.

In the agri-food sector, of the 24 multinationals established in Navarre, the following stand out: the Peruvian Viru (in Marcilla, formerly known as Ardo); the Swedish Vegetales Línea Verde (in Tudela); De Heus Nutrición Animal de Países Bajos (with a presence in Unzué, Orcoyen, Muga and Tudela); Refresco Iberia (in Marcilla); Manantiales de Betelu (in Betelu); the French Vega Mayor (in Milagro), Intermalta (San Adrián), Grupo Gelagri (Milagro), Timac Agro (Arazuri), Limagrain Ibérica (Elor) and Limagrain (Elor); the French Vega Mayor (in Milagro), Intermalta (San Adrián), Grupo Gelagri (Milagro), Timac Agro (Arazuri), Limagrain Ibérica (Elorz) and Lácteos Goshua (Iráizoz); Planasa from the United Kingdom (in Valtierra); the US General Mills (San Adrián) and Mondelez (Viana); the German Zucami (in Beriáin) and Agrozumos (in Lecumberri).

CHEMICALS AND METALLURGY

Other sectors with a strong presence of foreign capital in Navarre are chemicals, with 19 companies, and metallurgy, with 16. In the former, the following stand out: the US companies Dow Chemical Ibérica (Ribaforada), Irumold, Weideplas and Huntsman (the latter three in Pamplona); Hypred Ibérica of the French group Kersia (Orkoien); the German company Renolit (Villatuerta) and Unica of Sweden (Corella). Meanwhile, in the metallurgical industry, the following stand out: Germany’s Liebherr, a manufacturer of construction cranes (in Pamplona); BSH of electrical appliances (Huarte); Schmidt-Clemens (Murieta); Arcelor Mittal of Luxembourg (in Lesaka); Colep of Portugal (San Adrián); Magotteaux of Chile (Urdiáin); Graftech Ibérica of Canada (Ororbia); Hydro Extrusión of Sweden (Irurzun) and the French company Imberembal (San Adrián).

Other industrial activities with less representation include paper, with 10 foreign companies such as Sofidel from Italy (in Buñuel); Papertech from the Netherlands (Tudela); Essity from Sweden (Allo); Smurfit Kappa from Ireland (Sangüesa); Solidus from the United States (Villava) and Aranzadi La Ley (Cizur Menor). Energy has 11 companies, including the US company Array (formerly STI Norland in Pamplona); the Chinese companies Sungrow (Aranguren) and Sany (Pamplona); Nordex Acciona and Siemens Gamesa from Germany (in Lumbier and Sarriguren, respectively) and Rose Holm from Denmark (Pamplona). In logistics, the French company Geodis (Berrioplano) stands out.

PRESENCE BY COUNTRY

On the other hand, France and the United States lead the number of companies in Navarra, with 41 each, followed by Italy (8), the United Kingdom (7) and China (6), which includes energy companies such as Loxin, Sungrow, NClave Manufacturing, Sany Heavy Energy Europe Innovation Center, and Savera, as well as the Marqués de Atrio winery. Chinese capital is also involved in the ‘Muga Mina’ project in Sangüesa, through companies such as Yankuang Energy, Beijing Energy and Taizhong, investors in Highfield Resources, the parent company of Geoalcali. Japan, Denmark and Luxembourg have five plants each, Sweden has three, and other countries have one or two companies in Navarra.

Foreign-owned wineries include Marqués de Atrio (China, in Mendavia), Señorío de Arínzano (Russia, in Aberin), Bodegas Irache and Pago de Cirsus (Venezuela, in Ayegui and Ablitas, respectively) and Bodega Sarría (Mexico, in Puente la Reina).
