Inpelsa drives the reindustrialisation of the former Tenerías Omega site in the Navarrese town of Villatuerta

The Minister for Industry, Ecological Transition and Digital Business, Mikel Irujo, was given first-hand insight into the future plans of the site’s new owners, the progress made in the testing phases of new machinery, and the development of staff training and upskilling plans. The visit also included representatives from Sodena and members of the Association of Companies of the Merindad of Estella (LASEME), both of which have actively supported the project by assisting with installation, training, and the provision of essential infrastructure.

Although the project remains in an early stage, the progress observed was described as “very positive” by Irujo, who regarded the initiative led by Inpelsa as “a model of industrialisation” for the Tierra Estella region.

Following the bankruptcy proceedings of Tenerías Omega, which left over 70 people unemployed, Inpelsa’s arrival has helped recover part of the lost jobs—an encouraging development for the local community. From the outset, the Valencian company has been committed to retaining 44 workers from the former facility.

The decision handed down by Commercial Court No. 2 in Pamplona approved Inpelsa’s proposal over other bids, confirming it as the most robust option. In May 2025, Inpelsa resumed operations—initially with a small team that has since expanded—and established a local subsidiary under the name Inpelsa Calf to manage activities from Villatuerta.

As such, the reactivation of the plant represents not only the recovery of employment but also the consolidation of a new strategic industrial hub in Navarre. Inpelsa aims to strengthen this line of business in the high added-value bovine leather tanning sector, with a view to positioning its products in leading European markets.
