AIN, Clínica Universidad de Navarra, CENER, Bionanoplus, Bioeder, Ingredalia and Cocuus are participating in the Imprimed project, to which the regional government has granted a subsidy of 1.2 million euros.

The Industry Association of Navarra (AIN), Clínica Universidad de Navarra, the National Renewable Energy Center (CENER) and the companies Bionanoplus, Bioeder, Ingredalia and Cocuus are working together to develop new printable cardiac implants as part of the Government of Navarra’s strategic project Imprimed.

According to AIN, the initiative, which is based on biotechnology applied to obtaining printable polymers for biomedical applications from by-products of agri-food origin, is part of the Siberia challenge and is financed by the regional government through the aid program to carry out strategic R&D projects (2021). In this sense, it has a grant of 1.2 million euros and its final objective is to “provide an innovative solution in biotechnology for the development of personalized medicine”.

“This project aims at the development, production and validation of new printable biomaterials, based on functionalized and bioabsorbable biopolymers that are developed by the combination of biotechnological processes of bacterial fermentation and genetic engineering. All of them are obtained using renewable natural sources,” the association indicated.
