This initiative, located next to the technology center in Pamplona, is part of the NaVEAC Drive Lab project and needed an investment of 600,000 euros. The new circuit will facilitate the development of electric, autonomous and connected vehicle technologies, as well as new intelligent road infrastructures and road and environment information management systems.

NAITEC (Automotive Technology Innovation Center of Navarra) announced the project for the development of an urban circuit in Pamplona. The initiative, which aims to create a reference environment in Navarra, will allow “to design, test and deploy the different technologies associated with the electric, autonomous and connected vehicle (VEAC)”.

This action, financed with 600,000 euros, is part of the NaVEAC Drive Lab project, fully endowed with 4.5 million euros from REACT EU funds, through the ERDF 2014-2020 operational program, and with the mission of “developing technological testing infrastructures to promote sustainable mobility.”

As reported by the Government of Navarra, the  functionalities of this urban circuit subproject, of approximately 2.3 kilometers, include the development of on-board technologies in vehicles and new smart and connected road infrastructures, aspects related to the implementation of Smart Cities, as well as the creation of innovative systems for the management of road or environment information.

NAVEAC DRIVE-LAB project

In addition to this urban circuit, the NaVEAC Drive Lab project includes three other areas of potential development “that provide a comprehensive approach to the mobility ecosystem in Navarra”. The project also includes the design and construction of an electric platform in order to test propulsion systems, new materials, systems and components; the implementation of a logistics laboratory with drones, which will be used for indoor and outdoor tests for industrial and urban logistics uses; and, finally, the development of testing and approval infrastructures for new components.
