Future: Fast Forward, led by the Volkswagen Group and SEAT, is a Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) that will electrify the production plants of both companies in Navarra and Martorell and aims to turn Spain into a hub for electric vehicles in Europe. In fact, the Volkswagen Group intends to make Navarra a strategic pillar of its global electrification plans.
Formed by a total of 62 companies and national and international leaders from different sectors, Future: Fast Forward will be the largest business grouping in the history of the automotive industry in Spain.
In addition to Volkswagen, the list of participating companies includes several companies from Navarra that cover the entire electric vehicle value chain: BeePlanet Factory, specialized in the supply of second-life batteries; Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze, a company dedicated to the development, manufacture and supply of the car’s wiring; and NTDD, a micro-company dedicated to the manufacture of folding and plug-in two-seater vehicles.
The project has four main axes: the first, led by Seat and Volkswagen, aims to electrify the factories in Martorell (Barcelona) and Pamplona (Navarra); the second is the creation of an ecosystem of batteries for electric cars, ranging from the extraction of lithium from the mines to the assembly of the batteries. The third axis pursues the localization in Spain of “essential” components for electric vehicles, and the fourth includes areas related to training, digitalization and the circular economy.
