The acquired company was in insolvency proceedings in the commercial court of Castellón and the Navarrese offer coexisted with the option of an English fund. In this way, the local businessman, Benito Jiménez, incorporates two more production units into his consortium: a catering unit, made up of the Muerde la Pasta restaurant chain; and another food unit, linked to the Benfood factory. Congelados de Navarra, with a national presence, has more than 15 years of experience in the market.
Congelados de Navarra’s objective with this operation is to stabilise the company with the necessary resources to resume its expansion plan in organised catering, with its brand Muerde la Pasta, as well as to continue consolidating Benfood, a manufacturer with more than eight years of experience in the food sector, as the company explained in a press release. The Navarrese group intends to promote the development of Muerde la Pasta (Italian-Mediterranean food), both with its own establishments and franchises.
The Benfood factory in Castellón has facilities with more than 10,000 square metres of floor space, which house 8 production lines, as well as an intelligent logistics warehouse with capacity for three storage systems according to the needs of the product: dry, refrigerated and deep-frozen. Thanks to all this infrastructure, Benfood specialises in offering tailor-made developments and solutions for all distribution channels.
The new ownership has expressed its commitment to maintain the staff of both brands, as well as Benfood’s production activity in order to boost its growth. The current management team will continue to manage the company with the support and confidence of the new owner.
