It is a strategic alliance ratified by José María Esteve, general manager of SKF Spain and the CEO of RenerCycle, Javier Villanueva, which for its promoters represents “a significant milestone in the renewable energy sector”. The agreement covers three main areas of action: development of a commercial service for the reconditioning of used oil in the hydraulic systems of wind turbines, selection and improvement of the power bearings present in this equipment, and promotion of a pilot project in industrial energy self-consumption.
For the successful implementation of all these initiatives, SKF will contribute its experience and resources, including its R&D centres in Sweden and its reconditioning centre in Austria, as well as its industrial plant in Tudela (Navarra). For its part, RenerCycle will mobilise its network of partner companies, including RWE, ACCIONA ENERGIA, ENERFIN (recently acquired by STATKRAFT), ENHOL, NORDEX and other industrial companies specialising in wind gearboxes.
Javier Villanueva, CEO of RenerCycle, said the collaboration with SKF represents “an important step” in his company’s ongoing mission. “We are excited to combine our experience with SKF’s technological capabilities and track record to develop new technologies and services that will contribute significantly to the transition to a more sustainable model,” he said.
For his part, the general manager of SKF Española, José María Esteve, showed his organisation’s “firm commitment” to constant innovation. “We want to contribute our capabilities linked to the reconditioning of used industrial oils and bearings, among other solutions, to contribute to a better for the next generations,” he concluded.
