The company specialising in the development and production of friction material for the railway industry has invested 25 million in its production equipment in recent years. This effort has allowed the company to start up a new line for the production of organic friction material and two other automatic lines for the manufacture of synthesised friction material.
The Navarra-based branch of the multinational Knorr-Bremse reported on its latest activities in the field of Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I). Specifically, they highlighted the nine million euros they have allocated to this strategic area, which has enabled them to quadruple the number of their members to a total of 24 people.
In this sense, the company has a technology centre “unique in the sector in terms of personnel and technical resources”; with a complete prototype manufacturing plant for all phases of the process; and with the braking test centre “with the largest capacity in Europe”.
The also firm confirmed that recent investments of 25 million have provided the company with a new line for the production of organic friction material and two automatic lines for the production of synthesised friction material.
The company’s management also emphasised that it currently has three 1:1 and two half-scale test rigs capable of reproducing a wide range of braking conditions at speeds of up to 480 km/ or in various climatic conditions.
