The initiative, financed with 3.28 million euros by the European Defense Fund 2021, involves entities from Spain, Poland, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Greece and the Netherlands. The IntSen2 project, promoted by the European Commission and coordinated by the public company Tracasa Instrumental, was presented in Pamplona as a preamble to an initiative that aims to create a strategic European security and monitoring service based on satellite images and artificial intelligence.
The project, financed with 3.28 million euros by the European Defense Fund 2021, will use images from the European Union’s Sentinel satellites, “initially oriented to environmental purposes”, and artificial intelligence techniques to develop a concept for the application of image intelligence, “which will lay the foundations for the creation of a strategic European security and monitoring service”.
The consortium, coordinated by Tracasa Instrumental, also includes Tracasa Global, Zabala Innovation, the European Union Satellite Center, Centrum Badan Kosmicznych Polskiej Akademi Nauk (Poland), Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft MBH (Austria), Evenflow (Belgium), Planetek Hellas Etaireia Periorismenis Efthynis Ypiresies Chartografisis Meso Doryforou (Greece), Rina Consulting BV (The Netherlands), Rina Consulting S. P.A. (Italy) and Universita Degli Studi Di Napoli Federico II (Italy).
