Navarre is reinforcing its international positioning as a leading region in sustainable innovation after heading the first call of the European Circular Innovation Valley (ECIV) programme, a strategic initiative co-funded by the European Union and co-led by the Government of Navarre and Sodena.
The region has stood out for its strong involvement in the programme, leading eight transnational projects and participating in a total of thirteen initiatives, mobilising more than €7 million in investment in projects linked to the circular economy.
The call attracted significant interest across Europe, with 21 proposals submitted by 117 organisations from regions such as Scotland, the Netherlands, France and Sweden, further consolidating Navarre’s role as a strategic hub within international innovation networks.
The projects led by Navarre address key areas in the transition towards more sustainable production models, including the development of advanced biomaterials, the valorisation of agri-food by-products, improvements in water treatment and resource optimisation through industrial symbiosis.
This leadership is underpinned by a strong and diverse ecosystem, bringing together companies, SMEs, research centres and public entities, and demonstrating Navarre’s capacity to generate high value-added projects in collaboration with European partners.
Navarre’s position in initiatives such as ECIV further enhances its attractiveness as a destination for investment in sustainability, circular economy and industrial innovation, in line with the European Union’s strategic priorities.
