German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has been selected by Grupo Enhol to replace the turbines at the Caparroso wind farm (Navarra) as part of a repowering project that will reach a total installed capacity of 34.2 MW. The initiative involves replacing the existing equipment with six next-generation N163/5.X turbines, offering greater power output and improved efficiency.
In addition to supplying and installing the turbines, Nordex will provide a 20-year long-term maintenance service to ensure reliable operation and maximise renewable energy production for Grupo Enhol. Installation work is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with the repowered wind farm expected to enter operation in February 2027.
The Caparroso project marks a new milestone in the collaboration between Nordex and Grupo Enhol, who have already worked together on several wind farms in Navarra, including Ablitas (41.6 MW), Cabanillas (56.5 MW) and Pestriz (52.8 MW). This new investment further consolidates Navarra’s position as a leading region in wind energy generation and modernisation of renewable infrastructure.
For Navarra, repowering initiatives like Caparroso not only increase clean energy capacity but also stimulate industrial activity, skilled employment and specialised services across the entire wind-energy value chain. Upgrading existing facilities strengthens the region’s role in the energy transition and reinforces Navarra’s attractiveness for new renewable-energy projects and investments.
