The President of the Regional Government, María Chivite, has underlined the importance of consolidating a reinforced strategic partnership with China, highlighting the region’s commitment to international cooperation in key sectors such as renewable energy, advanced mobility, agri-food and biotechnology.
During recent institutional meetings, President Chivite emphasised Navarra’s capacity to position itself as a competitive European region, open to global investment and collaboration. The regional government aims to deepen its ties with Chinese institutions and companies to promote bilateral trade, technological exchange and joint R&D projects.
“China is a key partner for Navarra’s international strategy. Strengthening this alliance opens up new opportunities for our companies and broadens the region’s global projection,” stated Chivite.
Beyond its political and technological significance, the relationship between Navarra and China also has a strong economic dimension. China is one of the main sources of imports for the region, particularly in areas such as industrial components, technological goods and electrical equipment. Reinforcing commercial cooperation will help balance trade through an increased flow of high value-added exports from Navarra, boost the attraction of productive investment, and support the diversification of international markets for local companies.
This initiative supports the goals of Invest in Navarra: to position the region as a reliable and strategic destination for foreign direct investment in Southern Europe. Strengthening connectivity and international cooperation thus stands as a key driver of economic growth, skilled employment and the development of globally integrated industrial ecosystems.
