Navarre presents the European project ECIV (European Circular Innovation Valley) in the Netherlands

ECIV

Navarre has presented the European Circular Innovation Valley (ECIV) project in the Netherlands, after it was selected—among other proposals—to feature in an information session forming part of the official programme of the Circular Summit 2025. The project aims to foster both interregional collaboration and the commitment of key changemakers. During its launch, attendees learned about the main milestones of ECIV—with the support of Sodena—as well as upcoming funding calls for innovation projects and the tools made available to involved stakeholders. Of the budget allocated to Navarre, €4.3 million will be distributed over two funding calls in the next three years.

According to Delia Sola, Director of Strategic Projects and Entrepreneurship at S4, “We face many challenges in the field of circular economy, and they must not be tackled in isolation. Collaboration is essential; regions must work together to involve businesses. Moreover, it is important to share good practices and strengthen cooperation to complete regional value chains.”

The event highlighted the idea that only through cooperation can we address shared challenges, exchange knowledge, and build interregional value chains—all crucial steps in the transition towards a circular economy in our industrial ecosystem.

The event also welcomed representatives from ECIV’s partner regions: Francesco Lembo, from ACR+, and Sander Bos, project leader and strategic adviser on Circular Economy and European Affairs in Fryslân, the host region. Also in attendance was Evert Jan Van Nijend, Managing Director of Circulair Fryslân.

Circular Summit Fryslân 2025

Fryslân is one of the most advanced circular regions in Europe and a pioneer in circular economy thanks to its deeply rooted, collaborative approach. The region has built a model based on a coalition of businesses, government bodies, and knowledge institutions, creating a solid foundation for circular innovation.

Over the course of three days, the summit featured keynote presentations by leading experts in circular economy, hands-on working sessions, and on-site field visits.

The event was jointly organised by Circulair Fryslân and the Fryslân regional government, with ACR+ (Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable resource management)—also a project partner of ECIV—acting as co-organiser.

The summit concluded with a joint position paper outlining shared ambitions and policy recommendations for advancing Europe’s circular future.
