Specifically, the Navarre Film Commission has advised a total of 147 projects, 100 of them films and the rest other formats such as television programmes. Moreover, the number of production companies that filmed in the region was almost one hundred, 61 of them from Navarre, 30 from the rest of Spain and another 5 from abroad. In terms of formats, 15 were feature-length fiction films, 23 documentaries, 2 animated films and one experimental creative film. The short films were 25 fiction, 11 documentaries, 1 animation and 3 experimental. While the series, 3 were fiction and 2 documentaries.

This year, as a novelty, the Directorate General of Culture-Principe de Viana Institution, through the Audiovisual and Digital Projects Section and the Navarre Film Commission (managed by NICDO), has implemented a new methodology to collect data on the activity of the audiovisual sector in Navarra. The aim is to obtain a more accurate view of the number and type of film shoots, as well as the work of advising production companies, among other aspects.

To this end, the Section has implemented a more exhaustive data collection procedure, based on surveys, telephone calls and continuous monitoring with production companies and professionals in the sector. Thanks to this work, a greater impact has been identified than in previous years.

In addition, the revision of the audiovisual tax incentive, approved by the Regional Executive at the end of 2023 retroactively for productions shot in 2024, has significantly boosted the sector. Proof of this is that requests for advice from the Film Commission have doubled compared to the same period last year.

This growth is part of a broader strategy of institutional support, which involves transversally the departments of Finance, Innovation, Education, Employment and Culture, as well as the Audiovisual Cluster of Navarre.

In this context, public-private collaboration plays a key role in consolidating the sector and improving its competitiveness compared to other autonomous communities. This strategy is channelled through Navarra Film Industry (NFI), the audiovisual brand in Navarra that brings together public and private agents in the sector. Under this umbrella, it works to provide service, boost opportunities and strengthen projects, facilitating both the promotion and visibility of filming in the region and the development of the audiovisual ecosystem in Navarre.

As can be seen in the ‘Strategic Sectors’ section of our Invest in Navarra website, Navarra’s audiovisual industry has experienced significant growth and a notable evolution over the last decade. In this sense, this industry has a series of transversal support in different areas in the region to stimulate investment in infrastructures as well as in the production of audiovisual content.
