The initiative, applied at the Moratiel treatment centre in the Navarrese town of Peralta, \u2018marks a before and after for the sector\u2019, according to its promoters. Specifically, the project not only modernises the separation and recovery processes, but also facilitates real-time decision-making and incorporates innovative control and optimisation methodologies. \u2018All with the aim of recycling more in order to obtain higher levels of circularity and revalorisation\u2019, added the managers.<\/h3>\n

The packaging plant of the Mancomunidad de la Ribera Alta, in Peralta, has been transformed into an example of the future and digital transformation by Ecoembes and its circular economy innovation centre, TheCircularLab. Jos\u00e9 M\u00aa Palacios de Mier, President of the Mancomunidad Ribera Alta; Jos\u00e9 M\u00aa Aierdi, Regional Minister for Rural Development and the Environment of the Government of Navarra; the Director General for Territorial Cohesion, Jes\u00fas M\u00aa Rodr\u00edguez; Ana Breta\u00f1a, Director General for the Environment; Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez, Technical and Innovation Director of Ecoembes; as well as regional and municipal representatives took part in the inauguration of the facility.<\/p>\n

All of them learned first-hand how the analysis of the data collected during the plant’s process and the monitoring of different performance indicators make it possible to apply measures that improve the efficiency of the facility. At the same time, the analysis of the logistics chain, the design of vision and artificial intelligence systems, and the incorporation of robotic sorting systems were highlighted as keys to optimising the separation and recycling process.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Palacios de Mier, president of the Mancomunidad de la Ribera Alta, praised the Moratiel packaging treatment plant, which he defined as its \u2018jewel in the crown\u2019 for its evolution towards a 4.0 plant that combines advanced production techniques with intelligent technologies. For his part, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez, Technical and Innovation Director of Ecoembes, highlighted the importance of innovation and technology in the evolution of packaging recycling over the last 25 years, and reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to continue improving recycling supported by its technical expertise.<\/p>\n
