Hot stamping is a process that involves heating the steel sheet to make it malleable. It is then formed and rapidly cooled to produce a part with a complex geometry that is both hardened and tempered. It is a key technology in improving the safety of vehicle structural components while reducing their weight.<\/p>\n
The planned investment includes the construction of production and logistics halls measuring 26,020 square metres, the development of an area of 19,000 square metres, a two-storey office building and a distribution substation. The planned production lines will have two hot stamping presses, laser cutting lines and assembly lines. This facility is expected to be completed by March 2025.<\/p>\n
Gestamp Navarra, which already has two production centres in Orkoien and Noain, is a multinational specialised in the design, development and manufacture of highly engineered metal components for the main vehicle manufacturers.<\/p>\n
“This new project is a clear example of the double transformation that the world, Europe and Navarre are undergoing. It represents an opportunity to increase economic activity in a strategic sector for our community, the increase in high quality employment and the maintenance of turnover at the Noain and Orkoien plants”. This is how the Regional Minister for Industry and Digital and Ecological Digital Business Transition, Mikel Irujo, assessed the announcement of this investment declared “of foral interest” as it is aligned with the Sustainable Strategy for Smart Specialisation (S4) of Navarre, which places the promotion of electric and connected mobility projects among the six strategic priorities for the region.<\/p>\n
