The Darbonne family, together with Caja Navarra, founded Planasa in Valtierra 50 years ago. Over the years, the company has expanded its products and locations from breeding and developing new varieties of strawberries and asparagus to including R&D programmes for blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.<\/p>\n
In 2010, for example, the company took its operations to the next level by expanding across the Atlantic with its entry into markets such as the United States and Mexico. “All this growth and evolution would not have been possible without the contribution of an incredibly qualified and committed team,” its managers emphasised.<\/p>\n
This is why, with a view to the immediate future, their strategic commitment is to achieve a balance between technological transformation and sustainability through the development of new varieties of red fruits that are available all year round. To this end, the owners have announced the development of lines of research aimed at working on new varieties adapted to different climatic conditions with lower input requirements. On the other hand, they plan to generate a positive impact on the environment and contribute to the fight against climate change by helping local communities to solve their food needs.<\/p>\n
