The Regional Minister for Economic and Business Development, Mikel Irujo, and Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Murillo, Managing Director of Sunsundegui, travelled to Gothenburg where they held an initial working meeting with the management of Volvo Bus Corporation at its headquarters. Guillermo Alonso, Director of Invest in Navarra at Sodena, also took part in the meeting.<\/p>\n
The meeting served, therefore, to lay the necessary foundations to promote the manufacture of Volvo premium buses in Alsasua. This business project, signed last May, involves the creation of up to 450 new jobs for the production of up to 800 vehicles per year by 2028.<\/p>\n
In this respect, the Government of Navarre confirmed that it is exploring different collaboration options to strengthen and guarantee the medium- and long-term continuity of this foreign investment. Even Minister Irujo did not rule out “possible new investments” in the wake of this business initiative. “The different teams supporting this agreement, which is strategic for the Sakana Area, are already working and we will continue to make progress to ensure that what has been achieved bears fruit successfully”, he assured. The councillor himself also pointed out that the project proposed by Volvo “is a challenge, but also a great opportunity that must be undertaken quickly, responsibly and with the utmost care”.<\/p>\n
