The Norwegian multinational Hydro, the world’s fourth largest company in the integrated aluminum sector, has experienced significant growth in demand (in 2021 it doubled the EBITDA of the immediately preceding year) and will invest in improving its production capacity.<\/p>\n

The company plans to hire thirty people, which will increase the workforce by 27.27 %, and to increase its built-up area by almost 7,000 square meters (27.42 %).<\/p>\n

Strong growth in the sector<\/h3>\n

The evolution of the aluminum market experienced strong growth in 2021. This is evidenced by the increase in demand in the sector, which exceeds “21% compared to pre-pandemic times,” according to the Spanish Aluminum and Surface Treatments Association (AEA).<\/p>\n

To meet this demand, Hydro announced major investments in July last year. At its Irurtzun plant, it intends to double the production capacity of recycled aluminum through an investment of 10.4 million euros to improve production equipment (replacement of a new furnace). In this way, the company will increase from the current 30,000 tons per year to 60,000 tons per year.<\/p>\n

Last December, the Government of Navarra adopted an agreement declaring this initiative to be an investment of regional interest.<\/p>\n
