Pamplona-based biotechnology company Telum Therapeutics has closed an \u20ac18 million funding round led by AMR Action Fund, the world’s largest venture capital fund dedicated exclusively to investing in urgent-need antimicrobial therapies. The transaction highlights the growing appeal of Navarra’s innovation ecosystem to international investors specialising in life sciences.<\/p>\n

The round also saw the participation of new investor Inveready alongside the company’s existing partners: Invivo Partners, CDTI through SICC Innvierte, Clave Capital and Sodena.<\/p>\n

An innovative platform to combat antimicrobial resistance<\/strong><\/p>\n

The funds raised will enable Telum to complete the Phase 1 clinical development of its lead candidate, targeting the treatment of hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia caused by Acinetobacter baumannii \u2014 one of the most dangerous multi-drug-resistant pathogens in modern medicine.<\/p>\n

Through its proprietary APEX\u00ae platform, Telum develops biologically-derived, protein-based antimicrobial therapies designed to overcome the limitations of existing antibiotics and expand treatment options for patients with life-threatening infections.<\/p>\n

AMR Action Fund’s involvement represents not only a significant financial contribution for the Navarra-based company, but also the endorsement of a leading international investor in the antimicrobial resistance space \u2014 a validation that reinforces the scientific quality of its platform and its positioning within the global antimicrobial innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n
