The US multinational GrafTech has launched an \u20ac8.5 million investment to expand its facilities in Ororbia, Navarra, reinforcing its long-term industrial commitment to the region and consolidating the plant\u2019s strategic role within the company\u2019s international manufacturing network.<\/h3>\n

The project includes the construction of a new 1,700-square-metre building dedicated to the impregnation of graphite pins, a key process in the production of electrodes used by the steel industry. Thanks to this expansion, the Navarra facility will take on an activity that has until now been carried out in Mexico, moving towards a more integrated and efficient production model.<\/p>\n

The new facility will have the capacity to produce up to 8,000 tonnes of graphite pins per year, supplying the company\u2019s European operations. The investment will also help optimise logistics, improve product quality and strengthen the competitiveness of the Ororbia plant within the group.<\/p>\n

Increased production capacity, jobs and sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

Construction works are already underway, and the new facility is expected to become operational in the third quarter of 2027. The investment will initially create between three and six new jobs, with the potential to generate up to fifteen positions once the plant reaches full production capacity.<\/p>\n

This latest investment complements GrafTech\u2019s recent sustainability initiatives in Navarra, including the implementation of a photovoltaic self-consumption system aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its industrial operations.<\/p>\n

With a presence in more than 50 countries and production sites across Europe and the Americas, GrafTech is one of the world\u2019s leading manufacturers of graphite materials for industrial applications. Its decision to expand the Ororbia plant further strengthens Navarra\u2019s attractiveness as a destination for high-value-added international industrial investment.<\/p>\n
