Also in attendance were the Mayor of Jompoljaopraya sub-district, the Director of WHA Eastern Seaboard, Songsak Chuenta, the Spanish Ambassador, Felipe de la Morena Casado, as well as the President of Viscofan, Jos\u00e9 Domingo de Ampuero y Osma, and the CEO, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Canales Garc\u00eda.<\/h3>\n<p>The facility, built on a 30,000 m\u00b2 site, has 8,630 m\u00b2 of floor space and required an investment of close to 22 million euros. This new centre will be dedicated to the finishing stages of cellulosic and collagen casings, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and advanced digitalisation solutions from its initial design. According to Viscofan, the plant will not only supply the Thai market, but will also serve as a base for expansion into Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<p>For Jos\u00e9 Domingo de Ampuero y Osma, president of the Viscofan Group, this inauguration represents a key moment for the company. \u2018It is a milestone that reinforces our position in the Thai food market and highlights the importance of international collaboration and shared growth.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Canales Garc\u00eda, CEO, underlined that the decision to set up in Thailand responds to the need to be close to customers in the region. \u2018Proximity is key; being here allows us to better understand their needs, respond faster and offer more personalised solutions. In addition, this location gives us room for future expansion, with the ability to add new production processes if our customers&#8217; needs evolve. This project is not just for the present, but a long-term strategic commitment.<\/p>\n<h3><b><strong>THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AGRI-FOOD SECTOR<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The agri-food industry is one of the main engines for the creation of wealth and employment in the Autonomous Community of Navarre. Specifically, its productive fabric has an annual turnover of over 4,500 million euros, of which 1,129 million euros come from the activity generated by the primary sector. Furthermore, agri-food represents the second largest area of the Navarrese economy, accounting for 5% of total regional GDP and 14% of industrial GDP.<\/p>\n<p>Navarrese companies cover the entire value chain from the primary sector to the agri-food industry, including the two most important producers of frozen vegetables in Spain (Ultracongelados Virto and Congelados de Navarra), the largest cooperative cereal group (AN Group) or the leading company in Spain in salads and ready-made fresh vegetables (Florette) as well as leading multinationals such as General Mills, Gelagri, Mondelez or Agrozumos.
