A LEADING REGION IN INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
Navarra is the second Spanish region in terms of expenditure on R&D per capita: 1.91% of its GDP in 2012. It is ahead of larger regions such as Madrid and Catalonia and is only behind the Basque Country.

The private sector leads R&D activity with 68.4% of the total expenditure on R&D.

professionals in the last ten years.
The Government of Navarra has provided continued support for R&D over the last 40 years:
- The “Horizon 2015” Technology Plan is currenty in effect, with a budget of 170 million euros to improve competitiveness.
- Navarra has very efficient infrastructures:
- Its network of Technology Centers has recently been restructured
- The city of Pamplona has a Science and Technology Park
Navarra is one of only two Spanish regions (together with the Basque Country) to receive the grading of “Innovation Follower” (the second best possible) from the European Union in 2014.
Most of the region’s technology centers come under ADITECH (an umbrella organization) that consists of 11 centers in 4 sectors: Agrifood, Biotech, Energy and Industry.
This network consists of 850 researchers and represents revenues of 60 million euros a year.
